Apple has a three-year redesign tradition, and the iPhone 15 marks a new beginning for that cycle. After the company released its newest handheld line, users and industry experts are becoming curious about what the new iPhone is all about.

From the images and discussions circulating on the internet, we can see that the iPhone 15 has a noticeably different look than its predecessors. But, is that anything special about the new Apple device beyond its fresh appearance?

Let’s jump into the sections below and find out what the new iPhone is all about!

The Available Versions

The new iPhone 15 has four different versions to suit different user needs. The most advanced and biggest one is the Pro Max. On the other hand, the iPhone 15 and versions are designed for the entry-level market, with the latter version being the bigger one.

At a glance, users can see the main difference between each version lies in their size. As the name implies, the Plus and the Pro Max versions are the bigger varieties of the iPhone 15 and Pro versions. Of course, there are more distinguishing features inside. iPhone 15 series is now available starting at $0 Upfront with TELUS Easy Payment for Personal, Business, and TELUS EPP customers.

Design and Appearance

When it comes to design, Apple keeps the contoured edges on the iPhone, but it has made them softer for better and more comfortable handling. The TELUS Apple iPhone’s frame is made from titanium material, which makes the device both light and durable.

In terms of design, there are not a lot of differences between each version. The most notable one is the metal texture on the Pro and Pro Max’s frame. Other than that, users can notice that the bezels on these versions are thinner than the ones on the basic versions.

Another noteworthy thing about the iPhone 15 is its color options. Unlike with its previous smartphone devices, Apple decided to offer the same alternatives for this new series. The iconic black is there, and there are more colorful options such as pink, yellow, green, and blue.

As you may have noticed, there is no PRODUCT (RED) option for the iPhone 15. However, can choose from different titanium frame color options for the Pro and Pro Max versions. The available colors are natural, blue, white, and black.

Display and Camera

We have discussed earlier that the Plus and Pro Max versions are bigger in terms of size, which means that they also have a bigger display. In this case, the Plus and Pro Max versions have a 6.7-inch display, while other versions have a 6.1-inch display.

Another difference in the display section lies in the screen refresh rate category. While the basic versions only have a 60 Hz refresh rate, the Pro and Pro Max versions have a 120 Hz refresh rate. But, despite the differences, all of them use a Super Retina XDR OLED display.

When it comes to cameras, Apple has made a big improvement. Now, the main camera on the iPhone 15 has 48 megapixels. This, without a doubt, is a noteworthy fact, considering that the main camera on older iPhone models only has 12 megapixels.

The bigger camera resolution also allows for a two-time optical zoom capability, which brings much better results than a digital zoom capability. This is a remarkable change in the iPhone’s camera section, and it is the result of cropping the middle 12 megapixels of the sensor.

Interestingly, Apple has tweaked the basic versions to capture 12-megapixel pictures in its default setting. The company claims that this decision will result in clearer and more detailed pictures. Even so, this is not the case with the Pro and Pro Max versions.

The bigger main camera resolution on the iPhone 15 means that the pictures taken are stored at a bigger size. It is still hard to say exactly how big the pictures are but Apple says that they will still be stored at a “practical” file size.

Another factor that sets the Pro and Pro Max’s camera sections apart is the availability of focal length options. 24mm, 28mm, and 35mm focal lengths are all available on the said iPhone versions, but the 120mm is only offered for Pro Max users.

In addition, the Pro version has a 3x zoom lens capability and the Pro Max has a 5x zoom lens capability. And, these iPhone 15 versions also have spatial video recording capability, which can be used in collaboration with the Apple Vision Pro AR headset.

User Experience and Performance

For the performance aspect, the basic versions of the iPhone 15 use the same A16 bionic process that runs the iPhone 14 Pro versions. This means we can expect that they work as smoothly as those high-end TELUS phone models.

The iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max versions, on the other hand, use the A17 Pro processor. With this chip in its arsenal, these versions have a hardware-accelerated ray tracing capability, which can generate impressive lighting effects when gaming.

And, this generation of iPhone is also the first series that comes with a USB-C port. In terms of charging speed, it only offers an 18 to 20 W rate. However, when it comes to data transfer speed, it can go up to 480 Mbps for the basic versions and 10 Gbps for the rest.

Users can use the newly designed and versatile Action Button to access a wide range of features easily. The ring/silent switch is also still there. Lastly, there is a Dynamic Island with an always-on feature that allows users to check essential information easily.
